Omega 3 fatty acids can be found in certain types of fish like salmon and mackerel, and flaxseed oil. And as well as reducing inflammation, omega 3's speed up healing - again, important for acne sufferers - and reduce platelet stickiness. Platelet stickiness becomes important beyond heart health when you consider that the blood cells carry the supply of oxygen to cells, including cells in our skin, and the cells that are involved in healing. There are 3 types of omega 3 fatty acids that are significant. These are alpha linolenic acid (ALA or LNA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexanoic acid (DHA). ALA (or LNA, as it is often abbreviated to) is converted into EPA and DHA by the body. EPA and DHA are the forms in which the omega 3's are most easily used by the body. Supplementation with ALA has been found to reduce inflammation and improve dry skin. Flaxseed oil is a very good source of ALA, containing an average of 55% and higher. But to carry out the conversions into EPA and DHA, the body needs to have good levels of zinc, magnesium, vitamin C, vitamin B3 and vitamin B6. The recommended intake of ALA is about 2,220 mg per day. Higher doses are recommended to treat deficiencies, or some conditions. There is no real standard recommendation for acne sufferers simply because not enough studies have been done in relation to acne. But doses of 3000 to 6000 mg per day are used to prevent and treat some chronic conditions.

It was early March and I decided to upgrade my trusty Microsoft Optical mouse that I had been using for 2 years and replace it with something a little more up to date …. I looked on the web and checked out reviews on mice and then start reading about the combination of mice and mousepads (albeit probably 3 years later than everyone else ……) and how critical the combination could be. Now that I’m a little older and the “buy cheap, buy twice” policy makes so much sense, I came to the conclusion that I wanted the best mouse and the best mouse mat. This brought me to two items 1) Logitech G5 Laser Mouse 2) SteelSeries Mousepad 4S (Rigid metal mouse pad with chemical etched matt black surface) I nearly bit the hand off the delivery guy on the morning they were delivered, frantically unwrapping them like it was my 10th Birthday – looking good, opened the Steelpad 4S Steel first and saw the matt black, almost stealth looking mousepad. Great. Then opened the Logitech box and had a look at the G5 Laser mouse. Very impressed. I plugged the mouse in and loaded the software …… First impressions of the G5 1) It looked good. Felt great. 2) I didn’t like the wheel (it provided a lot more resistance than the Microsoft Optical mouse – it wasn’t as free wheeling) I messed around with the weights and decided that it wasn’t for me so I put the Logitech G5 Laser mouse back in its packaging and contacted the supplier for a RMA number. Very disappointed indeed! NOTE: READ THE REST OF THE REVIEW AND SEE HOW MY MIND CHANGED Next for the Steelpad 4S Steel Now this looked good, felt good and best of all, it performed. Using my Microsoft optical mouse on it worked great - however it seemed to have quite a bit of noise and friction. I fitted some pad surfers (a strip of self-adhesive low friction material that is supplied with the steel pad) cut them to size and stuck them to the feet of the mouse. Much better. A week passed and I’d not had a chance to send the G5 back - for some reason I thought I’d give it another try. I don’t know why I did this, however I’d kept on reading great reviews and thought I must be doing something wrong here. I got it setup as before and initially it felt better on the 4S Steel surface than the optical. After an hour of me saying that the scroll wheel was too hard to move I started to get used to it. I also changed the buttons so that the ‘+’ button was (Ctrl+Enter), as I use Opera browser - this is useful for wand commands and the ‘-‘ button to switched between the current and last page open in Opera (Ctrl+Tab). Which, if you’re comparing two web pages can be really useful. I used the left and right on the scroll wheel to act as middle button so that it would open up the selected link in the background. Again a very useful tool. It was starting to grow on me. The final straw was that I had an identical MS Optical mouse on another pc in another room in the house and once I used it – it felt so cheap and the scroll wheel actually felt like it didn’t have enough resistance! A week or so passed and I started to get irritated with the scraping noise of the G5 Laser Mouse on the Steelpad 4S Steel so I ordered some, specially designed, G5 pad-surfers from Steelpad. This seemed to do the trick and I carefully removed the original ones from the G5. Much quieter – or at least it seemed. A week later I was getting frustrated with the noise again and the scraping feeling (cue the fingernails on chalkboard noise) – I’d had enough. As I really liked Steelpad’s presentation and performance, but not the noise – I went back and ordered the Steelseries 5L cloth and plastic mouse mat. Wow, instant noise reduction, nice padded feeling (not too soft – just right) and it was a little bigger. I now have the best combination of all now. The best mouse and it’s tied in with the best mouse-pad (well, in my opinion anyhow). If you want a great combination don’t bother with the 4S, get the 5L and the Logitech G5 laser – there’s no beating this combination!

For them any discount, even if it is just 10 cents, still means they will be paying a little less for an item. If all discounts are added up, that can mean a pretty respectable saving. They would go to supermarket with the coupons they clipped and use them when paying for their purchases. Sad to say this will not happen to my country. No one will go to the supermarket with a bag full of coupons. I myself won't bother to go to the store with those coupons. We even have a calendar from popular drug store with discount coupons. Inner Peace. Isn’t that what we’d all love to experience consistently as we weave our paths through everything life gives us? The good news is that it is far simpler to attain than many of our outer (material or physical) goals. The bad news is that simple isn’t always easy! Attaining inner peace is not easy because it means replacing old habits with new, and that requires dedicated commitment. But the benefits are absolutely worth the effort. Inner peace gives you the ability to live your life with a sense of happiness, satisfaction and fulfillment which is not disturbed or influenced by outside events. How do you acquire it? By living your life your own way, not how others think you should. By not worrying about what others think of you – we all judge others (both positively and negatively) according to our own values, but if we try to live our lives in a way which honours somebody else’s values rather than our own, we’ll always have a little gnawing discomfort going on deep inside. To experience inner peace, we also need to be able to forgive and to let go of guilt. Forgive yourself and forgive others. Feeling guilty about past actions won’t change them and won’t make anybody feel any better (either you or the person whom you’ve hurt). Do what you can to put things right, resolve to do better in the future and move on. Likewise, letting go of anger or grudges will bring about a surprising sense of peace. Think about it – how does holding onto these negative emotions help you? And do you think they hurt those against whom you hold them more than they hurt you? Not at all. They are your emotions and you are the only person whom they can harm. Of course, it can be very difficult to forgive someone who’s hurt you, but what I’ve come to realize is that most people don’t maliciously set out to hurt others, and those who do are deeply unhappy themselves. The motivation behind their action was most probably some kind of fear rather than deliberately wanting to cause hurt or pain. And thought of in that context, it’s easier to let it go. And with a little bit of practice at forgiveness, you may even find yourself getting less annoyed or angry with people in future. When you can shrug things off and not take things personally (it’s really about them, and not you at all), you’ll have a greater sense of inner peace. Our happiness is determined by how we think about the events in our lives, rather than by the events themselves. Take charge of your thoughts and you take charge of your emotions. To achieve inner peace, you also need to let go of worry. Hmm, another tricky one! Worry is similar to guilt. Worrying about what might or might not happen is completely unproductive, and totally destroys your ability to enjoy the present moment. A great shame that, as the present moment is all we really have. So, how do we learn to let go of worries, guilt and anger? Well, the first thing is to become consciously aware of what we’re thinking whenever we feel worried, guilty or angry. Notice what’s going on in your inner dialogue, and acknowledge that it’s your thoughts about the external event that’s causing you to feel the way you do, and not the event itself. Then reframe your thoughts to reflect what’s going on around you in a more positive light. Whenever you catch yourself thinking the old thought, banish it immediately and replace it with the new one. “No-one can create negativity or stress within you. Only you can do that by virtue of how you process your world.” -- Dr Wayne Dyer This will take a lot of practice but with patience and persistence you will develop a lighter inner dialogue that promotes a feeling of well being and inner peace, and the world will feel like a far better place to live in!

The ping pong table should be five feet in width and nine feet in length. Generally made out of wood, there are white lines painted on the surface to signify the boundaries. Each player must serve the ball to the right side of the receiver's side bouncing first from the servers' right side. In the middle of the table, a net separates the table in two, one side for each player or team, in case a double's game is being played. The net should have a height of 15.25 centimeters and is tied to a hook on each side of the table. Most tournaments check the height of the net prior to the game to ensure that the right height is achieved. A player has to have a ping pong paddle to play the game. No exact measurement is mandated on the racket but what is clearly stated is that all paddles should have a rubber surface on each side. Also, one side of the paddle should have a black rubber surface and on the other side red. If the paddle does not have a rubber surface it is not allowed to be used. That’s why in all major tournaments, the paddle is carefully inspected by an official before the game. The inspected rubber shall be the only one to be used in the game, if the paddle is damaged, another paddle can be used only if it's inspected first. Another basic rule employed in a ping pong gamer and is especially watched out for in competitions is the moving and placing of the hands on the table. Also, players are prevented from touching the net. This is to ensure that the game would be fairly played and it is the skills of the players which will determine the outcome of the game. Prior to the changes made in 2000, each set of a ping pong game requires a player to score 21 points. But to speed up the duration of the game, major competitions have lowered it to 11. With HP you pay a deposit, usually of at least 10%, or trade in your existing car for at least the same value, and then use HP for the balance of the price. The loan is then effectively secured on your car. So in practice, your car still belongs to the HP company until you have made your last monthly payment. Then if you want to sell your car before you've completed the HP agreement, there will almost always be an early redemption penalty – often up to three months interest. The HP company will also register its financial interest in your car with HPI the finance tracking agency. This effectively means that you will be unable to sell your car until you have paid off the HP loan. Another alternative is Personal Contract Purchase, PCP for short, and in recent years PCP has become very popular. Here you also agree the mileage you expect your car to clock up each year. You then pay a deposit and part of the purchase price is deferred until the end of the agreed payback period. Your monthly repayments then repay the balance and the interest. These schemes are highly flexible as you can select the length of the loan and the size of the deposit but you'll find that interest rates vary considerably between lenders. The current average is about 12.8% - still well above the 5.5% rate for a cheap personal loan. At the end of the PCP contract you'll have three options: - Pay off the deferred balance and keep the car Trade in the car using the trade in value to help pay off the deferred sum and hopefully leaving a balance towards a new car Hand in the car and walk away with nothing more to pay. This last option is always subject to your cars' condition reflecting normal wear and tear and its mileage is in line with the annual mileage you agreed when you purchased it. If the recorded mileage exceeds the forecast mileage, then you'll have an excess mileage charge to pay. The cost per excess mile will always be specified in the PCP agreement. One of the big advantages of PCP is that the guaranteed buy back option effectively protects customers against excessive depreciation of their car. As you would expect, car dealers take a commission for selling PCP contracts and to encourage you, you may find they'll agree a bigger discount on your car if you take their PCP deal. If your lucky, they may even throw in a low cost servicing package or low cost insurance. But take care. Even though almost all (more than 96 percent) of the physicians in the United States who treat people with Parkinson's disease agree that clinical trials are necessary to find better treatments for the disease, the majority of physicians have never referred a patient to a clinical trial. These are among the highlights of a recent survey commissioned by Advancing Parkinson's Therapies (APT), a collaborative effort spearheaded by leading Parkinson's organizations. The survey also found that, among Parkinson's patients, 40 percent cite support groups and 27 percent cite other people with the disease as the most common sources of information about clinical trials. Meanwhile, only 11 percent of patients get information from their doctors. Currently, less than 1 percent of people with Parkinson's are participating in clinical research. This is far short of the level that researchers anticipate will be needed for clinical studies over the next two to three years, including studies of therapies to slow or stop disease progression and to improve symptoms such as tremors. This disparity may result in severe delays in the availability of new treatments. Information Barriers Lack of adequate information about clinical trials was identified as a barrier to clinical trial enrollment. Only 14 percent of primary care physicians, 21 percent of neurologists and 18 percent of patients surveyed indicated that they are somewhat or very satisfied with the amount of information available about clinical trials for Parkinson's disease. "People are not getting the information they need to make decisions as to whether to participate in a trial," said Michael J. Fox. "The fewer people that go into trials, the longer it will take to develop new treatments." To meet this challenge, the Parkinson's community has initiated a new campaign, Advancing Parkinson's Therapies (APT), to make sure patients and physicians are better informed. Preliminary Patent Search - A preliminary patent search is generally a good first step. A preliminary search of various patent offices can be conducted for a reasonable fee (just contact a patent agent/lawyer), and it is even possible to conduct one for free (see the US patent office at uspto. gov/) Patent Application - Don’t publically disclose your invention until after a patent application is filed. Publically disclosing the invention before filing a patent application can potentially ruin the chances of ever being granted a valid patent. In fact, many Companies will not even talk to you until you have filed a patent application. Prepare a Formal Information Package - You should prepare an informative and concise information package describing you, your invention and the potential market your invention reaches. The package should include color photographs of the invention, and a one page executive summary. Prototype - It is a lot easier to sell a product if potential buyers can see, touch and feel the product. Building a working prototype is often a key step in selling your invention. Of course, some products are difficult to prototype, in which case a non-working mock-up may have to do. In any event, create the most professional prototype or mock-up you can. Obtain Financing - Building prototypes and filing patent applications require funds. Finding that initial start up funding is often difficult; however, there are two tried and true methods, namely partnerships and incorporations. A signed partnership agreement is one way for a few people to pool their financial resources into a project. If several investors are involved, then an incorporated company is a better method. Essentially, the company takes ownership of the invention and the investors contribute money to the company in exchange for shares. The number and price of the shares can be tailored to suit the particular needs of the project. Now that we have dealt with some of the preliminary issues, let us look at the mechanics of selling your invention to a company. The actual steps in the process are as follows: 1piling a List of Potential Buyers - Finding a company that is willing to buy the invention is the most challenging part of the process. It begins by generating a list of companies that may be interested in the invention. You can use a business directory to generate that list. Business directories list companies by the products they manufacture (or services they provide) and include basic information about these companies such as their address, phone and fax number, and the name of the president (CEO or owner). Suitable business directories may be found in the business section of the local reference library. 2. Contacting Potential Buyers - Your list of potential buyers may include literally hundreds of companies. You simply call up each company on the list and ask them if they would be interested in receiving a solicitation for a new invention. Then get the contact information about who in the company to send your information to. 3. Presenting the Invention to Prospects - After you have thinned out your list, your next step is to submit your information to each of the companies on the list. This may involve calling the people identified to be the “contact” for new product ideas and telling them that you are sending them an information package about your product. Your package should include a cover letter and a one page synopsis of your product (including a picture). The information must be clear, concise and it must appear as professional as possible. Don’t try to overwhelm the recipient - you want to impress them, not burden them. 4. Follow Up - Do not expect the prospect to come to a quick decision concerning the invention. It may take a prospect many months (even a year or more) to make up his/her mind on a project. You have to be patient. It is important to periodically follow up with the company but do not “pester” the prospect. Remember, the people considering your invention are probably quite busy with several other projects - annoying them may do little to speed the project up and may cause them to drop the project altogether. 5. Negotiations - If you find a company that is interested in picking up the project, then be ready to negotiate the terms of the sale. The key here is to be reasonable. From my experience, nothing kills off a potential licencing deal faster than an unreasonable inventor. Realistically, the most you are likely to get is a good return on your investment. Asking for a smaller signing fee together with a modest royalty is far more likely to generate a signed agreement than holding out for a big payoff. 6. Royalty Amount - I am usually asked the question “how much can I sell my invention for”. I don’t know the answer; however, here are a few rules which can help you figure out a reasonable royalty rate. First of all, try to negotiate a royalty which is broken down in to two parts, an initial signing payment and an annual royalty payment. The initial payment should cover most of your costs of the project. The annual royalties should represent an amount which is sufficient to represent a good return on your investment without being a burden on the manufacturer. The general “rule of thumb” is to ask for a small percentage (1% to 5%) of the net sales of the product. It is also possible, and in some cases advisable, to fix the annual royalty payment to an easily calculated amount (e. g. $1.00 per unit sold). Selling your invention to a manufacturer is possible but it is not easy. How successful are you likely to be? From my experience, individual inventors are far more likely to successfully sell their invention by themselves then by going through some invention promotion organization. Like any business, the chances of success are a function of your determination, knowledge and willingness to take risks.

DEAD HEAT When there is a photo finish and the judge still cannot determine the winner – this is said to be a “dead heat”. Frequently before the days of photo finish, there would be mayhem when a dead heat was declared by a judge but everyone else could see there was an outright winner. Often it would be the angle of the finishing line that gave an impression of an outright winner, meaning the mayhem was not justified. However oftentimes it would be the judge who had got it wrong and the chaos was entirely justified. Punters, trainers, owners would all be outraged by the judge’s poor decision and eyesight (or lack of it); obviously where there is a dead heat the prize money about a horse is substantially reduced. The first record of a decision being determined by a “dead heat” was at Doncaster in October, 1947, between the horses Phantom Bridge and Resistance. More dead heats occur in Sprint Handicaps than in any other race, this is as one would expect, i. e. short unpredictable races with weights set to reduce advantage. These races often have “blanket finishes” DISTANCE • This is generally recognized as being a point 240yds from the winning post. Not officially marked on the racecourse, but always referred to in form summaries and the formbook i. e. went well clear after leading at the distance. Courses are all marked with furlong markers indicating how far one is from the finishing post, so it can be seen that the distance is 20yds before the final furlong marker is reached. • Sometimes horses may be judged to have won by a distance (more often at jumps meetings rather than flat). Although this is supposed to be 240 yards it usually means that the distance is so large that the judge cannot be bothered to estimate it. • The actual distance of a race. The shortest distance for a race is 5 furlongs. The longest flat races are around 2 miles in practice. The longest event of the racing calendar is the Queen Alexander stakes at Royal Ascot over 2.75 miles. National Hunt races are much longer with no chase or hurdle being less than 2 miles, with the longest jumps race being the Grand National at 4 miles 856 yards. • Winning distance. This can be defined as a “short head”, the finest of margins on a photo finish, then a “full” head, then a neck , then half a length etc etc. DOLL This is a hurdle whose primary purpose is to signal direction during a national hunt race, for example when a section of the course is waterlogged, that part of the course would be said to be “dolled off”. DRAW Before a flat race there is a “draw” to decide which place in the stalls each horse will occupy. The draw is made the day before the race at the overnight declarations office by lots. National hunt races don’t draw for places. The extreme left position is number one, with the number being indicated over the stall front, horse two takes stall two etc. Punters should consider stall position as part of their form study, as certain stalls are known to have advantage or disadvantage at certain courses, at certain times of year, especially in big fields. Punters had to lobby hard to get access to the draw information which is now widely available in newspapers and the numbers board and on Betfair. The information has proved very valuable to trainers and jockeys in determining race strategy. Making the draw overnight allows various aspects of the race to be considered, and has made considerable difference in flat racing, particularly to off course punters. DRIFTER When a horses price moves out considerably in the market i. e. starts at 3/1 and moves out to 8/1 it is called a “drifter”. The bookies may have expected it to be backed; possibly they heard rumours from trainers or stablehands. However the money never came and the short price gradually “drifts” out to longer odds. Usually this is bad sign for the punter, although recent evidence has suggested that this may not always be the case, with some smaller stables often coming good on their original “rumour”. On the other side of the coin are “springers” or the more recent term “steamers”. These may for example start out at 7’s or 8’s, and when the money starts to roll may return 6/4 favourite. There is a huge market that has developed on Betfair and the other exchanges, trading on steamers. The theory being that these horses can be backed early on at a long price and laid to lose later on as the price steams, locking in a guaranteed profit. Trading is explored meticulously on my website. DWELT A horse is said to have “dwelt at the start” when it falters in the stalls. It becomes less important to the final outcome of a race if the race is a long one.

The effect of these crimes is to alienate the addict from these people and drive the addict further into drug addiction and abuse. This is often referred to as the dwindling spiral of addiction. All too often, friends and family members are forced to overlook or forgive these crimes at a point of serious desperation in order to reach to the addict and assist them. This has to be done before so many crimes are committed that the addict totally alienates themselves completely, thus making help an impossibility.
